HOW IT WORKS
Raw material is fed into the ball mill cylinder through the hollow shaft at the feeding end. The cylinder is filled with grinding media (steel or ceramic balls) occupying 30-50% of the mill volume.
As the cylinder rotates at a specific speed, centrifugal force carries the grinding media up along the cylinder wall. When they reach a certain height, gravity causes them to cascade down, impacting and grinding the material.
The material is crushed by the impact of falling grinding balls and abraded by the friction between balls and the cylinder lining. This dual-action mechanism ensures efficient size reduction and uniform particle distribution.
Ground material passes through the discharge grate or overflows from the hollow shaft at the discharge end. An air classification system separates fine powder from coarse particles, which are returned for further grinding, ensuring precise fineness control.
WHY CHOOSE CRONUS
High manganese steel liners and forged steel balls ensure extended service life, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. Our advanced heat treatment process doubles the wear resistance compared to conventional materials.
Optimized transmission system and advanced bearing design reduce energy consumption by up to 30% compared to traditional ball mills. Lower operating costs without compromising grinding performance.
Heavy-duty construction with precision-machined components ensures stable operation under the most demanding conditions. All critical parts undergo rigorous quality inspection before assembly.
Advanced classification system with adjustable parameters allows precise control over final product fineness from 80 mesh to 800 mesh, meeting the most stringent quality requirements.
Modular design with convenient access to key components simplifies routine inspection and maintenance. Quick-replacement liners and standardized spare parts minimize downtime.
Every ball mill can be customized to your specific requirements — from cylinder size and lining material to grinding media type and drive configuration. We engineer solutions, not just sell equipment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A ball mill is a cylindrical grinding machine that uses steel or ceramic balls as grinding media. As the cylinder rotates, the grinding media is lifted and then cascades down, impacting and grinding the material into fine powder. It is one of the most widely used grinding equipment in mining, cement, ceramic, and chemical industries due to its simplicity, reliability, and ability to process a wide range of materials.
Dry ball milling grinds materials without adding any liquid. It is suitable for materials that are sensitive to moisture or when a dry powder product is required. Wet ball milling uses water or other liquids to form a slurry, which helps achieve finer particle sizes and more uniform particle distribution. Wet milling is commonly used in mineral processing and ore beneficiation. Cronus offers both types, and our engineers can help you determine which is best for your specific material and application.
Ball mills can process a vast range of materials including metallic ores (gold, copper, iron, zinc, lead, nickel), non-metallic minerals (limestone, quartz, feldspar, calcite, dolomite, barite, gypsum), cement clinker, ceramics raw materials, glass, chemicals, fertilizers, and many more. Cronus ball mills handle materials with hardness up to 9 on the Mohs scale.
Cronus Machinery holds ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification and CE certification for all our products. We are also recognized as a National High-Tech Enterprise by the Chinese government and hold multiple invention patents for our grinding technology innovations.
Cronus offers a standard 12-month warranty on all ball mills, covering manufacturing defects and material quality. Extended warranty periods are available upon request. We also provide lifetime technical support and a reliable supply of genuine spare parts to ensure your equipment runs smoothly for decades.
Selecting the right ball mill depends on several factors: the type and hardness of your raw material, required output capacity, desired final fineness, whether dry or wet processing is needed, and your available space and budget. Our engineering team provides free consultation to help you determine the optimal configuration. Simply contact us with your requirements, and we will provide a tailored recommendation within 24 hours.
We stock all critical spare parts including liners, grinding balls, bearings, gears, motors, diaphragms, and drive components. Consumable parts (liners, grinding media) are typically available for immediate shipment. Larger components can be air-freighted for urgent requirements. We also offer wear-part management programs to ensure you always have the right spares on hand.
